Why Hestan parts cost so much

Hestan came into the outdoor grill market from the commercial kitchen side, and its grills are built like it. Heavy 304 stainless, a lot of welded parts, its own trellis burner design and a short list of dealers. That shows up in the parts prices. A burner on a Hestan is sold as a kit for about $319 to $399. A single burner knob assembly runs about $140 to $183. There is no aftermarket to speak of, so almost every repair is an OEM part ordered through a dealer.

What sets the price on a Hestan part:

  • Which line you have. Hestan sells two outdoor lines. The Hestan line (model numbers usually starting with AG, like AGB or AGBR) is the top tier. Aspire by Hestan (model numbers like EAB, EABR, EMB and EMBR) is the lower priced line. Some kits are line specific. The sear burner conversion kit is about $319 to $399 for Hestan grills and about $299 for Aspire.
  • Grill width. Burner kits come in 30, 36 and 42 inch versions, and they are not interchangeable.
  • Assemblies, not pieces. Hestan tends to sell parts as assemblies. You buy the knob assembly, not a knob. You buy the trellis burner kit, not a single tube. That raises the price of a repair even when only one small piece failed.

For context, that puts Hestan at the top of the price range alongside Lynx parts and Alfresco parts, and well above mid-market brands like Summerset. If you are comparing Hestan to other luxury grills you are considering, our Hestan brand page lists local pros who service them.

Part-by-part breakdown

Burners

Hestan grills use stainless trellis burners instead of the more common U-shaped or tube burners. When a trellis burner rusts out, cracks or stops burning evenly, it is replaced with a trellis burner kit for that grill width. Those kits run about $319 to $399 from the dealers we checked, with the 30 inch kit often priced higher than the 42 inch kit. Hestan states that the kit should be installed by a trained service tech.

The sear burner conversion kit, which swaps one trellis burner for a high heat sear burner, is about $319 to $399 for Hestan grills and about $299 for Aspire grills. If you have a sear burner that has failed, the same kit is how you replace it. See the grill burner cost guide and sear and infrared burner prices to compare with other brands.

Ignition

Hestan grills light electronically, and the parts we saw priced were a battery powered spark igniter module at about $115 and a rotisserie hot surface igniter at about $151 to $158. Some sellers add a core charge on igniters and refund it only when the old part comes back in good shape. Before you order a module, find the assembly code printed on the old one and match it. Sellers ask you to confirm that code because the modules are not all the same. Our grill ignition parts guide explains how to tell whether the module, the electrode or the battery is the real problem.

Knobs and thermometers

The burner knob assembly runs about $140 to $183. That is three or four times what a knob costs on most other premium grills, because it is a full assembly. The hood thermometer runs about $108 to $141. Prices on both vary a lot between sellers, so it pays to have a dealer quote the part. See grill knob prices for how other brands compare.

Grates

Standard grates on Hestan grills are heavy stainless and rarely need replacing. The upgrade DiamondCut grate for 36 inch Aspire grills runs about $569 to $650 for a single grate. It is an add-on, not a required replacement part. If your factory grates are worn, have a dealer price the exact OEM grate for your model before you buy an upgrade. More on grates in our grill grate cost guide.

Gas conversion kits

Conversion kits are some of the lower priced Hestan parts. Kits from natural gas to piped LP are about $109 to $119, from a portable LP tank to piped LP about $57 to $59, and the portable tank kit for the side burner and pizza oven about $129 to $139. The power burner natural gas kit is about $99 to $109. Gas conversions should be done by a qualified tech.

Parts we could not price

We could not find reliable current prices for Hestan main gas valves, grill lights, drip trays or briquette and flame tamer parts from sources we trust, so we have left them off the table. A dealer can quote them by part number.

OEM vs. aftermarket

There is no real aftermarket for Hestan grills. You will not find universal Hestan burners or knobs on Amazon or anywhere else that we would trust, and the trellis burner design does not match any universal part. Buy OEM. For gas valves, regulators and anything that controls the flame, that is the right call on any grill.

Find your model and serial number

Before ordering anything for a Hestan, get the full model and serial number from the grill's rating label. Your owner's manual shows where the label sits on your model. If you no longer have the manual, a tech can find it in a minute during a visit. Write down the whole model number, including the gas type (NG or LP) and any color code. The prefix tells the parts counter whether you have a Hestan or an Aspire grill, and the width decides the burner kit size.

DIY or hire a pro

Swapping a thermometer or a battery in the igniter is a homeowner job. Burner kits, sear burner conversions and gas conversion kits come with instructions that call for a trained service tech, and we agree. These are expensive parts that sit right on the gas supply, and a poorly seated burner on a grill this size is a real flare-up risk. Labor depends on how much of the grill has to come apart, and on Hestan grills a burner kit usually means pulling the grates and flame tamers first.

Most companies in our network are dealers or hold dealer accounts, so they can usually order the right Hestan part for your model and install it in the same visit. You can find a Hestan grill repair company or look up grill pros by ZIP code. Pro Grill's online store does not carry Hestan, but we can still source the parts for you: ask Pro Grill to find your Hestan part. If the grill is older and several parts have failed, our repair or replace guide can help you run the numbers.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a Hestan grill burner cost?

Hestan trellis burners are sold as a kit by grill width and run about $319 to $399. A sear burner conversion kit is about $319 to $399 for Hestan grills and about $299 for Aspire by Hestan.

Are there aftermarket parts for Hestan grills?

Not really. Hestan uses its own trellis burner design and sells most parts as assemblies, so plan on OEM parts from a dealer.

What is the difference between Hestan and Aspire by Hestan parts?

Aspire is Hestan's lower priced outdoor line, with model numbers like EAB and EMB. Some parts, such as the sear burner kit and DiamondCut grates, are made specifically for one line, so order by full model number.

Why is a Hestan grill knob so expensive?

Hestan sells the burner knob as a full assembly, which runs about $140 to $183, instead of a simple push-on knob.

Can I install a Hestan burner kit myself?

Hestan says its burner and conversion kits should be installed by a trained service tech. A grill repair pro who is a Hestan dealer can usually supply and install the kit in one visit.

How we get our pricesPrices come from current listings at authorized parts dealers, the Pro Grill parts store, manufacturer parts sites and Amazon, checked by hand. We list OEM (factory) parts and, where a decent one exists, aftermarket or universal parts. Prices change with supply and model year, so treat these as ranges and confirm the exact part for your model and serial number before you order.
